What to consider when renting a Lamborghini in Dubai

Driving a Lamborghini in Dubai sounds like a dream come true, but there are several important factors to consider before you get behind the wheel of such a powerful supercar. The rules in the United Arab Emirates can be quite different from what you may be used to, and mistakes can be costly. Here are three key points to keep in mind if you're planning to cruise the streets of Dubai Marina or along the iconic Palm Jumeirah in a Lamborghini.

Check your driving licence, as it determines if you are allowed to drive

Before you even start the engine of your hired Lamborghini, you must first know if you are permitted to drive with your licence. If you are here as a tourist and are not a resident of the Emirates, you can generally drive with a valid foreign driving licence, sometimes in combination with an international driving permit.

However, once you are a resident and hold an Emirates ID, you are required to have a valid UAE driving licence. Without a UAE licence, you are not allowed on the road, even if you have held your foreign licence for years.

Speeding offences are punished immediately

A Lamborghini naturally invites you to press the accelerator, but this is not a good idea in Dubai. Speed limits are strictly enforced here, with a typical tolerance of only up to 20 kilometres per hour above the posted limit. Exceed this, and you can expect a substantial fine. You will not easily get away with it, as speed cameras are installed on virtually every major road. Even if you think no one is watching, you will likely be recorded.

Do not lose your temper in traffic, as aggressive behaviour is heavily penalised

Getting into an argument in traffic can be very costly here. Actions that might be overlooked elsewhere, such as making rude gestures or getting out of your car to confront another driver, can result in significant fines or even legal issues in Dubai.

Public aggression, swearing, or threats are viewed as serious offences. And with cameras all around, your behaviour is always being monitored. So, no matter how frustrating it can sometimes be, remain calm and do not be provoked.
