How long does it take to earn 1 million dirhams in Dubai?

In Dubai, earning money is heavily dependent on your profession and position. Where one person might need to save for years to accumulate 1 million dirhams, another can do so easily in a single deal or even with an Instagram post. This clearly illustrates the vast differences in income within the city.

Take, for example, an average taxi driver in Dubai. With a monthly salary of around 5,000 AED (approximately €1,250 or £1,070), it would take about 17 years to earn 1 million AED. This, of course, does not account for living expenses.

Major contrasts between professions in Dubai

On the other end of the spectrum is a banker in the DIFC business district. With an average salary of 60,000 AED per month (approximately €15,000 or £12,800), they reach that same 1 million AED in just a year and a half. This shows how important function, experience, and sector are within the Dubai job market.

But it can be even faster. Some top real estate agents in the property world earn a million dirhams from a single villa sale. Through commissions and bonuses, their earnings can be substantial, especially when selling exclusive properties. It is useful to know that in the off-plan market, these commissions are paid by the developers.

Famous names earn millions in seconds

Then there are international superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, who earns over $1 million from a single Instagram post. Or Elon Musk, who makes millions when Tesla stock moves for just a few seconds. These are, of course, exceptional cases, but they underscore the enormous differences in how quickly wealth can be accumulated in the modern world.

So, in Dubai, the path to 1 million dirhams is different for everyone. For some, it's a lifelong mission, for others, a matter of the right deal or the right moment.
